To begin, select an auction category (i.e. IT Equipment, Lab Equipment, or Other Products) from the home page. On the next page, select an auction type (i.e. Single Items auction, Bulk Lots auction, or an Itemized Lot auction). Note that auctions end on different dates and times. Search the available equipment Item Types and search for specific items in the "Filter for Specific Item" box or go directly to the Bid Status page for personal auction activity. Press 'Refresh Results' to update the bid activity or auction time remaining. If you have pop-up blocker software installed on your computer, you may have to disable it to use this site.
PRC Auctions currently separates its auctions into the following categories:
Each auction category currently supports three (3) types of auctions, as follows:
Unlike most other auction sites, PRC Auctions was developed based on an anti-sniping model. "Sniping" refers to the act of bidders placing bids in the last few seconds of an auction in an attempt to "snipe" or snatch the item from another buyer at a price just above what that other buyer was willing to pay.
Other sites do not necessarily support sniping, but it cannot be avoided, as each item ends at a different time. Therefore, the snipers can go after as many individual items as they want.
However, on PRC Auctions, each item within a specific auction type will end at the same time. Though snipers can still go after a single item within an auction, it is impossible for them to try to snipe multiple items because all of the items end at the same time.
Like most auction sites/services, PRC Auctions imposes a Buyer's Premium. This fee is imposed to help offset the costs of posting items and running the auctions, as well as to reduce any Seller's Premiums in order to attract more and better equipment. This premium will be added to the closing or "hammer" price of the item or auction. For example, if you bid on and win an item for $100 with a 15% buyers premium, the total price of the item (minus any applicable taxes) would be $115 ($100 bid + $15 for 15% buyer's premium).
PRC Auctions stands fully behind the products it sells. For any equipment specifically guaranteed in the Bid Announcement to be in working condition upon receipt by the undersigned and unless otherwise noted on the Bid Announcement, the undersigned will have seven (7) calendar days after receiving the equipment to inspect said equipment to determine that it is in working condition upon receipt. If any equipment is not in working condition upon receipt or if any equipment is not the equipment as described in the Bid Announcement, the undersigned must notify The Product Resale Company within the 7-day inspection period and The Product Resale Company will issue an RMA# and provide return shipment information.
Single Items Auctions and Bulk Lots Auctions:
You can bid on one or more
items/listings.
You are only required to purchase the items you have a winning bid on..
Itemized Lot Auctions:
You place a bid to purchase all
items listed in the auction.
Bidding:
For any auction, you
must fill out the "Enter Your Max Bid" field or column for each Item or
Lot you wish to purchase. To submit a bid press the "Submit Bid" button to the
right of the Enter Your Max Bid column. To bid on multiple items, use the checkboxes in
the left column and press the "Submit Checked Bid(s)" button. Once
your bid(s) has been submitted, the item(s) or lot(s) you bid on will be
displayed on the "Bid Status" page. You can update your bid as
necessary from the "Bid Status" page.
Max Bids:
When you enter a Max Bid, the PRC
Auctions software will automatically raise your bid if another bid has been
entered which is higher than your current bid. This will occur each time
another bid is made that is higher than your current bid and lower than you
Max Bid. This bid increment is set prior to the start of the auction and is
the difference between the Current Bid and the Minimum Bid column.
Placing "Enter Same Max Bid for All √'d":
In Single Items Auctions and Bulk Lots Auctions, you can
place the same bid amount on multiple items. To use:
Item Detail Page:
Click on the item's image or the Item# to view a
photograph and/or more detailed description. You can place a bid or add this
item to your Watch List from this page.
Sending Items to the Watch List:
You can save
selected items or lots for quick-reference by sending them to your Watch List.
Select any item or lot and press the "Add to Watch List" button in
the rightmost column. The item or lot will be displayed on your Bid Status
page under the "Bid Watch List" section.
To select multiple items use the checkboxes in the left column and press the
"Add Checked Items to Watch List" button.
Items Winning vs. Losing:
In the Single Items Auctions and Bulk Lots Auctions, an
item's row will be green for items you bid on and are
currently winning and red for items that you are losing (for Itemized
Lot Auctions, the row containing "Your Bid" will reflect these
colors). A neutral light-gray color will
indicate that you have not placed a bid for this item or lot.
The Bid Status page displays Your Submitted Bids, Bid Watch List, and Completed Bids. Similar to the Selected Auction page, you have the ability to sort column headings that are underlined in all three sections of the Bid Status page.
Submitted Bids:
Displays all bids you placed on
an item or lot. Green rows indicate you have the current highest bid. Red rows indicate your bid is lower than the current bid. From here, you have the ability
to modify your Bids as
necessary.
Watch List:
Items will remain in the Watch List
section of the bid Status page until the auction ends. You have the ability to
create a bid on any item(s) or lot(s) from the Watch List area. Once you have
submitted a bid the item and/or lot will be moved to the Your Submitted Bids section.
Completed Bids:
When an auction ends, all the items you
have bid on are moved to the Completed Bids section of the Bid Status page.
The Completed Bids Section is divided into Winning Bids and Losing Bids sections for
easy viewing and sorting.
The Selected Auction page includes a "Search for Specific Items" section at the top of the screen. This section allows you to filter for specific items via a drop-down list of all available choices. For example, you could select an Item Type and press "Go" to display only the applicable item types. Also in this example, after "Go" is pressed, only the available Manufacturers and Model Numbers that pertain to the Item Type selected will be displayed in the drop-down list. What you see is what you can get.
ALSO NOTE: The dropdown boxes are "clairvoyant". If you type the first letter of the entry it will automatically position to the first entry in the dropdown list that starts with that letter. If you click the same letter again, it will position to the next entry in the dropdown list that starts with that letter, etc
You can use the box labeled "Perform Wildcard Search for All Fields Above:" to quickly narrow-down your search results.
Wildcard characters are "*" and "?".
Use "?" to specify any single character.
Use "*" to specify a group of characters.
Example #1: To search for an Item Type containing the word
"pump" you would specify: "*pump*" with an asterisk
before and after the word.
Typed: "*pump*"
Returned: "Magnetic Pumps" "Pump
Cleaner" or "Industrial Pumping Motor"
Example #2: To search for equipment that may have several contexts,
or ambiguous spellings you can enter a part of the word and all items with
the partial spelling will be returned.
Typed: "bal*"
Returned: "Balance"
"Balances" or
"Balance Hoods"
Example #3: To search for equipment that may have ambiguous
spellings you can enter a part of the word with "?"s
to represent letters you may be unsure of. For example, if you are not sure
whether Centrifuge is spelled "centrifuge" or "centrefuge"
you could:
Typed: "centr?fuge"
Returned: "centrifuge"
To sort the data in any column, click any column title which is underlined. Each subsequent click will alternate the sort from ascending (A to Z, low to high), then descending (Z to A, high to low). You can sort the data in the Selected Auction and Bid Status pages.
You must send Payment according to the Terms and Conditions for each auction. Your receipt can be printed from the Bid Status page by pressing the "View/Print Amount Due" link in the Completed Bids section under Winning Bids.
